Actress, Creative and Crohn’s Disease Advocate
I have been living with Crohn’s disease for the past 20 years. I consider myself extremely knowledgeable in this area, to say the least. Crohn’s (the invisible illness) is something that is hard to understand, however can have a profound effect on the lives of those living with the disease, as well as family and loved ones of those suffering.
A year and a half ago it came to a head for me unexpectedly, with three major surgeries, removing all of my large intestine, experiencing major medical complications, and having a temporary ileostomy for 6 months. It has been a journey to hell and back again, and I know I’m not alone, as this disease affects millions world wide.
Through it, I have learnt a lot. I have learnt not to take life for granted, to live every moment, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Through it, I aim to be a better person, and hopefully help others in whatever capacity I can.
Currently, I am well, but I know my journey is an ongoing one, it has its ups and downs. By sharing my unfiltered experience, the good, the bad, the funny, the embarrassing, I aim to raise awareness of Crohn’s and help others going through a similar journey.
It takes guts I believe, or perhaps a lack thereof, to live a life with Crohn’s;)
